Starting out as a one-man shop in 2003, Equilibrium Engineers has grown steadily in response to the needs of our client base. Our firm is fortunate to have significant depth of experience on projects in all major market sectors. We enjoy the unique challenges that each project brings, and relish the opportunities we are given to develop creative solutions that achieve both the project’s vision and improved community resilience. We work hard at staying abreast of the latest technologies and trends in building construction as well as advancements in building codes so that our designs are relevant, practical and safe.

as owners and developers directly. We are located in Lake Oswego, Oregon, 8 miles south of
downtown Portland. We are a small firm with a diverse client base. Our size and diverse
projects combine to create a dynamic work atmosphere.

A new home for the chimps at the Oregon Zoo, this project included a 4,000 square foot cable-stayed mesh enclosure that reaches 42 feet in the air. The enclosure is thought to be the biggest play structure in the metro area--go to the zoo and judge for yourself! This project won the Top Special Use Structure Award in the Structural Engineers Association of Oregon’s (SEAO) Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards in 2021.

Our firm is riding the mass timber wave on this new two-story 50,000 square foot office/classroom building for Portland Community College. Designed based on the principles of Design Justice and Sustainability, this building will serve students and the surrounding neighborhood, offering resources and a place to gather. The project is slated to start construction in early 2022.
